debra porter publishes her memoir

This is a particularly special shout-out for me—Debra Porter was one of my very first students when I started teaching creative writing to adults back in 2018.

From the beginning of our work together, she knew she wanted to write a memoir about her experience of undergoing and recovering from a series of intense spinal surgeries—an experience that was especially challenging for her because of her love of movement and physical fitness.

After many years of making slow and steady progress on her memoir, Debra knew she wanted to commit to finishing the book before she moved out of Austin and began a new chapter of her life. So she signed up for my coaching program in early 2022 and used the six-month program to complete her manuscript and create a solid plan for revising it.

Today, her book is now available for purchase on Amazon, and I couldn’t be prouder (and a bit misty-eyed). Congratulations, Debra!! I’m so proud of all your hard work and passion for this project.
